ABOUT
Sufian Ararah is an Independent Filmmaker & Musician with a background in Cinematography (BA MetFilm, London).

FILM PRODUCTION
Over the last decade, Sufian has played a pivotal role in advancing film production in Libya through his company, Khayal Productions. He established a robust network and set a new standard for filmmaking in the country, making his work stand out in the industry. He has worked on multiple short and feature-length projects, while also engaging deeply with the humanitarian field—most notably as the first filmmaker for UNHCR in Libya, where he focused on the subject of migration. For Sufian, storytelling has always been both an artistic and human pursuit.

MUSIC
Alongside his work in film, Sufian is a self-taught oud musician and composer. He has performed internationally and collaborated with artists from diverse traditions. Most recently, he presented new work at the Jazz Cave Festival in Romania. His music blends Libyan folk traditions with contemporary sounds, creating a dialogue between heritage and new artistic expressions.

Now based in Berlin, Sufian continues to develop films and multidisciplinary art projects while expanding his creative work throughout Europe, with a special focus on Germany and Italy.
